Fun Things I Found On The Internet!

I have been browsing the web A LOT today and came across numerous neat, fun and whimsical items and wanted to share some of them with you! Enjoy!

This is the Box Lounger by Loook Industries. Loook designed this chair to give privacy in public. The lounger dampens surrounding noise plus it’s really interesting to look at.

Dragon’s Tails Lamps by Luisa De Los Santos-Robinson. These are so awesome looking!

I love this room divider by Luis Eslava Studio for LZF Lamps. It’s very beautiful and would do interesting things to light coming in the room.

LOVE this Wood Camera iPhone Case by Photojojo!! It’s so creative, beautifully made and fun!!

These hand sculpted, embossed and inlaid leather textiles, by Genevieve Bennett, are so beautiful! They can be used for wall coverings, headboards or simply as wall art.

These Antique Dice Tables from Grandin Road are super cute! They would add an unexpected touch to the decor.

Do You Pinterest?

My friend, Whitney, is a Pinterest-aholic. She is always Pinterest this, Pinterest that and for good reason. If you haven’t checked it out yet, I suggest that you do. Pinterest describes their site as an “online pin-board community” where anything you love, find interesting or beautiful, places you want to visit etc. can be Pinned to your boards and shared with everyone who follows your boards. I have seen so many great design ideas, fabulous recipes and such; it’s fun. If you know someone who is already on Pinterest they can send you an invitation or you can request an invitation through the website. Check out some of the Pins.

Glass Jar Pendants. Pinned by my friend, Christian.

Another Pin from Christian. She loves the table from CB2.
A Pin a la Whitney. I love this space too!

Another great idea Pinned by my cousin! Ribbon lampshade.

Or simply share things that make you laugh. This is pretty funny!

A New Paradigm for Public Spaces

Via the Contemporist, Centro Abierto de Actividades Ciudadanas in Cordoba, Spain represents an innovative twist to the idea of public spaces.  The prefabricated, circular discs provide an artistic rain protection that will house temporary markets two days a week, along with other activities.

The aerial view is quite spectacular.

The discs vary in height.  You can see grand scale in relation to the two guys.

The bold, soft colors are a definite eye catcher.

It makes me want to bring my Amazon Kindle to read under the nice shade.

The temporary flea market creates a great buzz factor on the weekends.

The park just lights up the sky.

Felt Makes Me Happy

I’m not sure why I fell asleep last night thinking about felt but I did. I guess it started when I got the bright idea to attempt making some felt toys/dolls for my daughter. I’m sure I can pull it off….. Right? So, today I checked out Etsy to see what other felt creations people come up with and I am even more inspired to give felt-y crafts a go. Here are some neat things I found. : )

I LOVE these carnival hydrangea felt clips (by Lou and Lee)!!! I haven’t ordered them yet but believe me, I will. They will look so adorable in my daughter’s hair.

Felt napkin rings by ItzFitz. So cute and they come on LOTS of different colors.

These yarn wreaths with felt flowers are too wonderful! Also by ItzFitz.

How about this Multi Color Rainbow Felt Disc Pillow? (by dedeetsyshop) So fun and colorful.

Another creation from dedeetsyshop. Circus Flower Beanbag Bookends. (Just a little FYI, dede’s designs have been featured on Good Morning America and in Family Circle magazine.)

Here’s a fancy felt design by TianaCHE. Special Occasions Felted Bolero.

Charcoal Felted Clutch by FuzzyLogicFelt.

I am so amazed by what people create with felt. Once upon a time I only thought of felt for poodle skirts!! Silly me. I will make something with felt before the year is over! If it turns out well, maybe I’ll post my creation for all of you to see. : ) In the mean time, I need to make a trip to High Fashion Fabrics.

Lines I Love…SAIVANA!

I’m such a sucker for details. Pintucks, pleats, embroidery, princess sleeves… you name it, I’m on it. But I like my dose of girly with a bit of edge. Which is why I love Saivana. Once only private labeling to such high end European designers such as Isabel Marant, Dries Van Noten, Max Mara, Kenzo, and Susanne Rutzou, they are now creating their own line combining timeless embroideries with modern silhouettes. Gorgeous luxe tops in georgette and silk chiffon are floaty, edgy and so now! And I can’t wait to rock them with my denim and cargos. Ooh, and motorcycle jeans, and those new booties I want…. (Hey, let a girl dream a little)
Soooo, be sure to stop by High Fashion Home on Saturday, August 21 from 12-3 to check out the Saivana trunk show. I’ll be the one with her arms full of my must haves! Also be sure not to miss my friends DePetra and their new jewelry pieces. And with 20% off all full priced clothing items that weekend in the boutique at High Fashion, I have more reasons to stock up!

***********See you there**************

Hot Town, Summer InThe City

It’s hot here in Houston. In fact… it’s hot everywhere. I was visiting my family in NYC last week and it reached 103 degrees! And, sticky hot summer days make getting dressed a little tricky. Summer styles are breezy, strappy and sheer, which sounds great, except poses a few clothing mishap possibilities. Ladies, you know what I mean. All those shirts you think you can’t “get away with” because they are cut too low in the front, or back, or have straps in places that aren’t functional or cover what you need covered? And we all have that dress that blows up every time a (much needed) breeze comes through? Yeah, I feel you.

May I share my new found secret? … Super easy and thin seamless layering pieces from Nikibiki, now available online at High Fashion Home.

A tube top under a sheer blouse or low cut tee or sundress can be your best friend. Also you can wear it around the waist to cover up the gap between low rise pants and a top!

A basic, longer version of a seamless cami is an essential layering piece.

A cropped version of your favorite seamless legging is perfect for under flyaway floaty dresses!

Check out all the new NikiBiki products now on our High Fashion Home website. Available in 8 colors. Prices start at $5!
