Sang and Serena

I love a great end table or little “anything” cabinet. And I love what Sang and Serena have to offer! I came across this company via Urban Flea. The detail of Sang and Serena’s pieces is amazing. They work with a local artist/entrepreneur in India to create the pieces and then bring them here. The bedding they have is incredible too. Enjoy. : )

Some of the quilts they offer. They come in Single, Queen and King sizes.

The Sundial design is one of my favorites.

So is the Goddess design.

Rural Living in Iowa

I love this farmhouse in Iowa. I found it on Dwell. The idea of a chunk of land and a house off by itself amid lush green country appeals to me. I don’t know the first thing about farming but I’d be willing to learn for this place. : )

Of course it’s red, has a metal roof and amazing front and back porches! Love.

I have always loved Dutch doors. The cat is cute too.

Lots of windows, a woodburning stove and 2 chairs. The wide plank wood floors are so pretty.

I LOVE the cutout handles on the cabinets! So clean and they look really neat. I also like the idea of their loft office. Making great use of vertical space.

Another view of the office. Such a peaceful view through the window too.

The bedroom is separated from the rest of the house by a slatted wall. I like the idea of a wall that doesn’t go all the way to the ceiling.

What says farmhouse shower better than a corrugated steel shower?

Introducing Charley…

Meet Charley.  The newest addition to our High Fashion Home family.

Things are always changing around here, so Charley spends his day scouring through our four floors to let us in on all the great new pieces and best-sellers.

  Up First:  The Cynthia

Cynthia Sofa
Probably THE MOST sophisticated sofa I’ve ever seen… The Cynthia.  The classic styling and clean lines of this sofa make it a great addition to any room.  Don’t let the name fool you, this sofa is both sexy and masculine.  Torn straight from the pages of a MadMen script, this sleek sofa would be just the spot for Don Draper to kick back, rocks glass in hand.

Nobu Coffee Table
Want to turn up the heat?  Our “Bark” and “Glam” pillows add just enough leopard and sequins to make even Marilyn Monroe blush.  Throw in the dark curves of our nobu table and a few classic pony chairs and you’re ready to entertain even the swankiest advertising mogul.

Bardessono Hotel in Napa Valley

I saw this hotel on InStyle and liked it so much, I’m sharing it. The hotel offers quite a variety of guestrooms, all equipped for in-room spa services. Most of the food comes from local farms and the hotel has its own garden on site. They pride themselves on being earth friendly and are 1 of 3 hotels in the world to receive Platinum Certification fromLeadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED).

I LOVE Michael Bay’s Pad!

Michael Bay brought us Armageddon, Pearl Harbor…. all the Transformer movies. He obviously likes blowing things up and over the top movies. His Miami Beach home, on the other hand, is very clean, open, bright, beautiful and explosion free. I saw these pictures of Mr. Bay’s house on Elle Decor. Another house that I love. : )

I love the pendant lights that hang at the stairs.

I love this area. The daybeds, the plants, the waterfall that flows down the sheets of glass near the wall. Yes!
(furniture shown is from Holly Hunt and Charles Jacobsen)

The dining table is right by the windows which means great natural light and wonderful views.
(chairs are from Holly Hunt and the table is from Jalan Jalan Collection)

The bar area looks like some sort of tropical resort heaven. Love, love the hanging lanterns!
(barstools for Holly Hunt)

I love this kitchen so much! I think it was a great idea to not have the walls of the kitchen go all the way to the ceiling. The kitchen looks more open and bright.

And what movie director’s house would be complete without a big screening room?

Yes, I love it.

Finally, the reflecting pool.

A Wonderland of Trees!

(photo courtesy of Earth Day Network)

Thanks to all our customers for joining High Fashion Home and the Arbor Day Foundation to help save our planet.  For every piece of furniture sold at High Fashion Home, one tree will be planted through the Arbor Day foundation.  As of June 30, 2010, we have helped plant 11,277 trees.

Here are some of the benefits one tree can make for years to come:
  • One tree can absorb more than a ton of carbon dioxide
  • Over the course of 50 years, a single tree can control $31,500 of soil erosion.
  • Trees help maintain clean water supplies.
  • One tree produces nearly 260 pounds of oxygen a year.
My math says our trees will help produce 2,932,020 pounds of oxygen in the next year.  Thanks to all of our great customers for helping the world breath a little bit easier.
